2009 Winner:

Karen Ziccardi of Ziccardi Designs has been selected to receive the 2009 American Society of Interior Designers, Orange County Chapter, Lifetime Achievement Award.

Karen Ziccardi, ASID, CID, has become well known and respected by clients worldwide for her sensitivity in providing interior design solutions that typify excellence. Practicing for over 30 years, her clientele includes royalty, entertainment figures, entrepreneurs, hoteliers and international families with projects in the USA and abroad. Her trademark style (in residential, model home, hospitality, or commercial work) is understated elegance, be it contemporary or traditional, incorporating influences as appropriate from an extensive travel vocabulary.

A member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), a California Certified Interior Designer (CID), as well as the Orange County Building Industry Association (BIA), Ms. Ziccardi holds Doctoral and Masters Degrees in Environmental Design from UCLA, and has also studied Architecture and Design at the University of Copenhagen, Fine Arts at the Art Students League of New York and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Art Education from New Jersey City University.

A sought-after lecturer, Ms. Ziccardi is also a renowned author of articles on contemporary interior design issues as well as a guest appearing on interior design television programs. Her outstanding efforts in the interior design industry have earned her numerous honors, including: MAME, MIRM and ELAN awards for Model Home Merchandising; First Prize for the ASID Celebrity Suites Competition, Award of Excellence from Halo Lighting; ASID Project Award for her distinguished handling of El Camino Bank, Architectural Woodworking Award and the Reynolds Aluminum National Creative Award for innovative design. In addition, the National Association of Home Builders awarded Ms. Ziccardi the first Prize for interior design of La Jolla Village Towers, a Seniors Facility.

Ms. Ziccardi is Past President of the Orange County Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers and currently sits on the boards of two well-respected Southern California interior design schools. She is also the co-founder and a principal of Ziccardi Designs, Inc.
