ASID Member Benefits - the Value of Belonging

ASID has 48 chapters throughout the Nation. When you join ASID, you become part of a community that is committed to helping you and your profession succeed. You also enjoy access to an unmatched resource of information, knowledge, services, and events.

The American Society of Interior Designers Chapter in Orange County, California, is located in the Laguna Design Center, 23811 Aliso Creek Road, Suite 108, Laguna Niguel, CA 92677. We are open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and can be reached via telephone at (949) 643-1549, or fax at (949) 643-5664.

Levels Of Membership

To encourage involvement from all sectors of the interior design community, ASID offers a range of membership categories.

Professional Membership: The highest level of ASID membership is reserved for practitioners who have completed a course of accredited education and/or equivalent work experience in interior design, and successfully completed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination.

  • Requirements: Proof of passage of the NCIDQ examination. Professional membership in ARIDO (Canada) and CODDI (Puerto Rico) is transferable to ASID upon proof of said membership.
  • Appellation:  Your name, ASID
  • Yearly Dues: $425

Allied Membership: Practicing interior designers who fulfill the following requirements: a four- or five-year bachelor’s degree with a major in interior design or architecture; or a two- or three-year degree or certificate in interior design.

  • Requirements: Official college transcript and/or technical school records verifying degree obtained.
  • Appellation:  Your name, Allied Member ASID
  • Yearly Dues:  progress at a rate of $285 first and second years, $320 third year, $370 fourth year, $425 fifth year

Education Membership: Professional: Educators who are actively engaged as department chairs or full-time instructors in a post-secondary program of interior design education at any university or accredited school of interior design that requires completion of 40 semester credit hours in interior design-related courses.

  • Requirements: Proof of passage of the NCIDQ examination. Professional membership in ARIDO (Canada) and CODDI (Puerto Rico) is transferable to ASID upon proof of said membership, a detailed job description and a letter verifying employment as an educator.
  • Appellation:  Your name, ASID
  • Yearly Dues:  $250

International Membership: Qualified interior designers whose residence and principal place of business lie outside the boundaries of an ASID chapter are eligible.

  • Appelation:  Your name, Allied Member ASID
  • Yearly dues:  $270

Industry Partner Membership: members include interior design industry manufacturers and their representatives,related trade associations and market centers. Industry Partners provide opportunities for interaction between interior designers and the interior furnishings industry that supplies services and manufactured products.  The membership rates for Industry Partners can be found on the ASID national website shown above.

Student Membership: Student membership is available to students enrolled in an interior design program where an ASID student chapter exists. Click here to view the current schools with ASID chapters.  The yearly dues at $45 per year.

Independent Student Member: Independent Student Membership is available to students in interior design programs in an area not served by an ASID student chapter.

Advancement to Allied Membership: Advancement to Allied Membership is available to student members who have graduated and are eligible for Allied Member status.
